Limi Valley

21 Days Trip Code NSTR273

Limi is the name of a valley located in the Limi VDC (smallest administrative unit) in the far northwest corner of Nepal. To walk here from the nearest road in Nepal takes 16-17 days, or two days from the nearest road in Tibet. The closest airport is Simkot, 5-6 days distant (plus acclimatization). There are about 800 Tibetan-speaking people living here, in
3 different villages strung along the Limi Valley. People live off the meagre agriculture and animal husbandry, and caravan trading with Tibet and places further south in Humla. Historically, Limi has been a thriving source of wooden handicrafts bartered/sold in Tibet. There are no facilities for tourists, and food supply is very limited. No shops, only farm houses here.
There is one locally run health post - in Halji - supported by the organisation Nepal Trust.

I've been trekking & climbing in Nepal for many years and Nepal Sanctuary treks is without doubt the best agency I have used. Tulsi, Prashant and other staff worked hard to ensured that our trip to the Khumbu Himal was one of the most memorable. Our thanks to you all. We're looking forward to seeing you all again in 2016.
